Brandon Scot Redmond, 45, of Parsons, passed away at 7:42 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2022, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born on December 23, 1976, in Parsons to Olivette Redmond. Brandon grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools graduating from Parsons High School in 1996.
Brandon had an extensive academic background earning degrees from Labette Community College, Bachelor's degrees from Pittsburg State University in Chemistry and Plastics Engineering, Master degrees from Strayer University in Business Administration and Information Systems, and was currently enrolled in Northcentral University working toward obtaining a Doctorate in Business Administration. He also earned certification in computer and hacking forensics.
Brandon worked various jobs over the years including providing client care services at the Youth Crisis Center, Class Ltd., and Southeast Kansas Independent Living. He also provided online tutoring services for various companies, and technical services for Tank Connection and most recently for PCS VoIP Inc.
Brandon was known for his kind and gentle spirit. He was a lifelong student and researcher who loved helping people. His spirit was demonstrated in how he cared for his family, friends, and others even through his illness. He was also an avid sports fan especially of Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls, and the Parsons Vikings. He loved his family and friends with all his heart, especially, his nephews, niece, and great-nephew, playing a major raising them as his own children. Brandon was always at their sporting events cheering them on and encouraging them to do their best.
He was a faithful member of the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church in Parsons.
His survivors include his sister, Brandi Redmond of Parsons; his nephews, Dannerick Yates, Davonte Yates, and Damais Johnson; his niece, Dakiah Yates; his great-nephew, Jadyn Yates; his aunt, Olivia Lyons of Parsons; several cousins; and a host of relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Olivette Redmond, his grandparents, Ruby and Oliver, Sr. Redmond, and his uncle, Oliver Redmond, Jr.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church with Dr. Stan Bassler and the Reverend Gerald Holland officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 7 to 8 Friday evening, January 20, 2023. Memorials are suggested to the family to assist with expenses, and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
