Mr. Brandon Sheay Tharp, 53, of Grenada, formerly of Indianola, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Brandon was born in Indianola, MS to the late Crystal Hamilton Bates and the late Sammy Tharp, both of Indianola. Brandon suffered many years with congenital heart issues that lingered into his adult years; however, he did not let his illness prevent him from enjoying life to the best of his ability. Brandon had special interests in space and aviation, specifically the Blue Angels. Despite Brandon being limited to what he could do, he would go and watch the Blue Angels perform every opportunity he had. Brandon loved to go to the movies and had a large collection of movies from all genres and eras of time. He especially enjoyed going to see Godzilla movies with his father, Sammy. Brandon was easy to please and a loving soul. Many remember Brandon for his loving heart and smile. He loved his pets and his family with his whole heart especially his grandmother, Mae. His love for his family kept his fighting spirit alive.

Brandon is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mae Tharp, who cared for him in his adolescent and young adult years, and grandfather, Leroy Tharp. His mother, Crystal Bates, step-father, Pete Bates of Moorhead; father, Sammy Tharp of Ridgeland; his big sister whom he adored, Tammy Ward of Indianola; uncle, Fletcher Tharp of New Laguna, NM; and nephews, Charles Kimbrell and Stephen Ward all preceded Brandon in death.

He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 11 years, Stephanie Peacock Tharp who cared for him throughout his illness; sister, Pamela Kimbrell of Indianola; brothers, Michael Tharp of Oklahoma and Jason Bates of Grenada; aunt, Frances Tharp Griffin of Ridgeland and uncle Barry Tharp(Brenda) of Indianola; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In accordance with Brandon's wishes, there will be no service.

His family would like to show sincere appreciation to the wonderful hospice nurses and caregivers that cared for him.
