On Sunday, July 10, 2022, Bren Leresa Peters of Bloomfield, Connecticut, peacefully departed
her life on earth to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Bren was born on
February 21, 1966, to Margaret and Rodrick Peters in Hartford, CT. She attended Hartford Public
High School, where she played volleyball, tennis and basketball. After high school, Bren earned
her Bachelor of Arts in Communications at the University of Connecticut (Storrs, CT), and had
also attended Howard University (Washington, DC). She later earned her Master of Education
degree from Emerson College (Boston, MA).
As a teen, Bren competed and won the Connecticut Miss West Indies Scholarship Pageant. She
loved participating in activities that celebrated West Indian culture throughout her life. Bren was
also, a devoted Girl Scouts leader and both lived by and exemplified the Oath & Law.
"I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and
strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use
resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout."
In addition, Bren was a dedicated patron of the performing arts. As a teen, she was a talented
actress and vocalist. One of her favorite songs to sing was "Summertime" from the play Porgy
and Bess. For three summers during high school, she participated in CONNPEP, a
pre-collegiate enrichment program at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, where she
loved performing in musical productions. In her adult life, Bren worked at The Hartford Courant
in Classified Advertising, and was particularly proud of later landing a position in advertising at
The Washington Post, in her beloved Washington, D.C, where she made her home for a
number of years.
Back in Connecticut, Bren was thrilled to purchase her home in Bloomfield, where she could
offer a gathering place for her family. It was there that she also became the proud co-founder,
along with her sister Esther, and owner of A Bright Light Daycare Center. Educating and
expanding the horizons of children was one of her greatest accomplishments. She was also the
Founder & CEO of Pinketies, a global accessory and lifestyle brand company, where her
mission was not only to help women and girls look good, but was to celebrate, affirm, and
empower them. She was also the author of Pelly Fell into the Pond children's book.
A humanitarian, Bren loved small acts of kindness - those spoken & unspoken and she loved to
make people feel loved, even in her most difficult times she always thought of others. In addition
to gardening, she loved to create beautiful spaces and surroundings to offer beauty and
peacefulness to anyone she could share it with.
She leaves to cherish her memories husband, Collin Barry Bennett, Jr., mother, Margaret
Peters; sisters, Esther Peters and Bernice Peters; brother, Quinton Spicer (Jennifer); nieces,
Avery Gibson, Seylah Hester, Sienna, and Gabrielle; nephews, Kyle Peters, Shawn Spicer,
Anthony Spicer, Quincy Spicer; God-children Chris Jones and Cayla Jones, and a host of
relatives and friends.
The celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 12:00PM with visitation at
11:00AM at New Life Kingdom Building Ministries International, 855 Chapel Road, South
Windsor, CT 06074. Donations can be on Bren's behalf to the Smilow Cancer Center here

Rest in eternal peace Cousin Bren... I remember when you hosted the Friday night meet and greet for the Folston family reunion. A most gracious and loving lady who will never be forgotten.
