Brenda Joyce Satterfield Adams, 82, of Dalton, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 13, 2025 after a long struggle with dementia.
A daughter of the north Georgia hills, Brenda was born on October 25, 1942, the youngest child of Flossie and Euguene Satterfield. She was raised on the family farm off Airport Road, where she learned the values of hard work and self-sacrifice. Brenda applied these traits for the rest of her life through her constant care of others, including her aging parents, her daughters, and, later in life, her sister Louise. All the while, she continued her service to others by working for several doctors in Dalton during her 50-year career. She became like family to her co-workers, and she treasured her time in the office, where her co-workers and patients became some of her best friends. Brenda's selfless devotion to serving others was truly the hallmark of her life.
As much as she loved serving others, she also loved her husband, Jimmy Adams. For more than 20 years, they worked hard and built a beautiful life together. When Jimmy was taken far too soon, Brenda devoted her love to her daughters and, eventually, their families, whom she loved dearly.
Brenda enjoyed birdwatching, cooking for family gatherings, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Louise Jones, Delores Straw, and Wilma Jean Harris; her beloved brother-in-law James Jones; and the love of her life, husband Jimmy Adams. Brenda is survived by her daughters Alison (Greg) Flood and Julie (Chad) Jacobs; her grandchildren MaKenzie Martelli, Spencer Flood, and Clara and Eleanor ("Ellie") Jacobs; great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will hold a private graveside memorial service on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Murray Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider a donation to The Dementia Society of America in Brenda's honor (link below).
