Brenda Hardin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 8, 2025.
Brenda Lynette Thompson Hardin, 84, left us on her journey to Heaven on October 30, 2025, in Granite Quarry, NC after several years of declining health. Born on August 11, 1941, Brenda was an exceptionally hard-working mother, sister, and grandmother who loved her family deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Smith (Kirk Gantt) of Granite Quarry, and two sons, Richard Harmon (Gloria Harmon) of Bloomer, OH and Robert Hardin (Angie Hardin) of Guyton, GA; two sisters, Delores Jacobson of Roy, UT and Pamella Loy of Belews Creek, NC; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew. Just as her family, three long time best friends, Ginger, Delores and Redenka will miss her dearly.

Brenda was preceded in death by her soulmate and beloved husband, Billy Hardin; a son, David Harmon (Bonnie Harmon); a brother, Steven Thompson; and a sister, Evon Sorenson.

Brenda graduated from Delmar High School in Delaware where she proudly joined the US Navy, bringing dedication and honor to her country. Her hard-working life included significant contributions to Wall Rope, Lane Punch, and GDX, where she was appreciated for her work ethic and camaraderie. She was known to mentor and take under her wings, the under dogs and black sheep that she came across during her lifetime. A heart of gold she had....and those that truly knew her, saw it.

Brenda was a member of the Baptist faith. Her favorite things to do included picking blackberries for jam and cobblers, gathering and cracking pecans, baking cakes and cookies, flower gardening and of course...READING.

A memorial service will be held at the VA's National Cemetery in Salisbury, with the date undetermined at this time. Brenda requested that in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations be made to the W.G. Bill Hefner VAMC in Salisbury, NC, Novant Hospice, or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
