Brenda Joyce Mitchell passed away Friday morning, April 4, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church, 183 Salem Church-Miller Road, Gray, Georgia 31032. Pastor Eddie Windham will officiate.
Brenda was born on, August 15, 1947, in Virgie, Kentucky to the late Bill and Viola Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Billy Wayne Mitchell, sister, Sissy Damron and brother Jesse Lewis.
Brenda will be remembered by those who loved her most as a loving, caring, wife and mother. But, to her granddaughters she will always be remembered as our devoted Nana. Her granddaughters found in her a trusted friend and secret keeper that always had a attentive listening ear. A very proud woman whose resiliency and strong willed nature will remain as a legacy for her family to lean upon. Her heart is mended now that she is reunited with her beloved son.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of fifty two years, James (Mitch) Mitchell, daughter, Angie (Stephen) Hooper and their child Hailey, granddaughters, Bethany (Daniel) Herin and their children, Rylee Ann and Daniel Paul, Maggie (Chris) Upchurch and their child Allison, and daughters in-law Rebekah Mitchell, sister, Cynthia Tackett (Reggie), brother Wendle Lewis (Karen), brother in law, Bennie Damron, sister in law, Janice Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that you make donations to the Beverly Olson Children's Hospital thru the Navicent Health Foundation, 3330 Northside Dr. # 100, Macon, Georgia 31210.
