Brenda Sellon, 64, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away in the presence of loved ones on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 6:25am at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, IL
Brenda was born on April 17, 1961, in Galesburg, the daughter of Robert K. and Maralene J. (Whitney) Baughman. Brenda was the youngest of their five children as well as the smallest, earning the nickname "Peanut." All family and those closest to Brenda only know her as "Peanut." In 1988, she was married to Mark Sellon.
Brenda is survived by her children: Malorie Johnson of Abingdon, Cory Baughman of Montrose, Colorado, and Hannah (Tyler) Garza of Galesburg; six beloved grandchildren: Caleb Dildine, Carson Dildine, Cameron Dildine, Hudson Underwood, Aylah Garza, and Dixon Baughman; her brother, Steven Baughman of Galesburg; and her sister, Karin Pierson of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Kathy Jackson; her brother, Terry Baughman; and her niece, Carol Castillo.
Brenda attended Galesburg schools and was extremely proud to earn her GED in 2005. She was mostly a dedicated homemaker and took pride in caring for her children. She had a love for music, dancing, puzzles, and trivia shows, especially Jeopardy! She also enjoyed collecting wicker baskets and laying out in the sunshine. Her days were brightened by morning coffee, iced tea, and time spent in her kitchen talking to her sisters on the phone. Most of all, Brenda will be remembered for her caring soul, deep love for her family, and her unwavering faith in Jesus.
Private family services were held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville. Burial followed at Abingdon Cemetery officiated by Zack Hunter.
The family expresses deep appreciation for those who helped care for Brenda. Memorials may be made to the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com.
