Brent McGarry Stout, 78, of Rigby, Idaho passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

Brent was born October 6, 1947, in Afton, Wyoming, the son of John Cowan Stout and Vera Lillian McGarry. He attended schools in the Granite School District in Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah.

Brent married his sweetheart, RoseAnn Ivie, on October 6, 1967, in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They have been married for 58 years.

Brent served as a mechanic on B52 bombers for the United States Air Force. He was assigned to serve in Glasgow, Montana; Goldsboro, North Carolina; and Okinawa, Japan.

After Brent was discharged from the Air Force, he continued his education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, graduating with an associate’s degree in chemistry. He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in medical technology.

Brent provided for his family as a medical technician, starting at the old LDS Hospital, then the Sacred Heart Hospital, and finally giving 40 years to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. After retirement, he had the opportunity to help at EIRMC when needed. He also worked as a regional director for General Electric in their Bio-Med division. He taught others to do their best and take pride in their work.

Brent loved to minister to and serve others. Many people have hobbies; Brent’s hobby was service. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served with RoseAnn for three and a half years as service missionaries in the Idaho Falls Mission. They assisted the young service missionaries in the Rigby and Idaho Falls areas. He was often lovingly referred to as “Grandpa” by the missionaries who served with him.

Brent and RoseAnn loved the temple. They had the opportunity to serve in both the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples. They love the many friends they have made there. Brent had the opportunity to serve in the church as a bishop, high councilor, and scout leader in which he received a Silver Beaver for his service. He was serving as the ward clerk for the Young Single Adult Ward in Rigby, Idaho at the time of his death. He found joy in serving Heavenly Father.

Brent has always been known to be a hard worker. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially doing RoseAnn’s to-do lists. His nature was compassionate and loving. He was very devoted to his Savior, Jesus Christ, and to his family.

He was a devoted husband and father. His greatest joy was his family. He and RoseAnn were very supportive of their children and grandchildren and would often take day trips to watch them perform in plays, programs, concerts, and sporting events. There was never any doubt that he loved his family so much.

Brent is survived by his wife, RoseAnn of Rigby, Idaho, their eight children; Robin (Lisa) Stout of Ogden, Utah; Brandon (Carolyn) Stout of Plain City, Utah; Keisha (Ryan) Beckstead of Rigby, Idaho; Anndrea (Tyler) Ashcraft of Eagle Mountain, Utah; Miranda (Randy) Bird of Rigby, Idaho; Stewart (Ciera) Stout of Eagle Mountain, Utah; April (Zach) Migel of Rigby, Idaho; and Drew (Emily) Stout of Neenah, Wisconsin, his sisters; Jackie Thompson of Star Valley, Wyoming; Carol Jean Goldman of Boise, Idaho; Renee Stout of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and brother Terry (Becky) Stout of Lehi, Utah. He has been blessed with thirty-two grandchildren with one on the way, and one great grandchild with two on the way. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Garfield LDS Church (71 North 3700 E, Rigby, Idaho). The family will meet with friends on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Garfield church, and again on Monday at the church, prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Interment will be in the Grant Central Cemetery.
