Brenton Park DeWolf, age 91, a resident of Tyngsboro, formerly of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill on Monday, August 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lowell on August 28, 1933, and was the son of the late Gordon P. DeWolf Sr. and Charlotte (Park) DeWolf.

Brenton had deep roots in the town of Chelmsford. He was raised on the Park family farm in South Chelmsford. In 1952 he graduated from Chelmsford High School. Then in 1953 he served in the US Army, stationed in Alaska. His fondness for the state of Alaska led to his quest to visit every state in the Union, which he did, traveling with his good friend Ted Prall.

Brent also had a passion for movies, books and music. His personal library was vast. His knowledge of movies and film stars was encyclopedic.

True to his Yankee roots he entertained us with his quick wit and dry sense of humor. His courage and self-reliance allowed him to live independently through his almost 92 years. Most of all, Brent will be remembered for his commitment to, and deep love for, family and friends, his kindness and grace, and steady presence in all of our lives.

Brenton is survived by his nephew Nathaniel DeWolf of New York City, his niece Martha DeWolf of Northampton and her daughter Madeline, and his nephew Richard DeWolf of Dudley, his wife Ann and their son Eli. He is also survived by his long-time close friends who have been an especially great comfort to him in his last months: Valarie Nicolls and Mike Rousseau, Mike and Peggy Hishan, and Joe Robitaille.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon, Sr. and Charlotte, and his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon P. DeWolf Jr. PhD and Ellen Kingsbury DeWolf. Brenton was also predeceased by his good friend, Theodore F. Prall, whom Brent cared for through many years after Ted's disabling accident.

We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. In their compassionate care Brent was comfortable and happy. He could enjoy both visits and solitude, giving him time to read his books and rest. They are wonderful.

Brenton's Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 1pm at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 2 Westford St, Chelmsford. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Brenton's memory to High Pointe Hospice House at tuftsmedicine.org/giving.
