Martha A. (St. Hilaire) Rappe, 60, a former resident of Chelmsford passed away suddenly in her home in Lowell, Massachusetts on August 12, 2025. Born in Lowell to Vincent F. St.Hilaire and Mary E. (McCarthy) St.Hilaire. Martha and her family lived in Chelmsford for most of their lives, including with her mother, Mary, who served as the Chelmsford Town Clerk for many years.

Martha graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1983 and went on to become a talented and beloved barber working in the local area including Sinclair's Barber Shop in Billerica for many years.

Martha loved being by the water and spending time outside tanning. You could always find her at her mother's poolside where they hosted many family parties.

Martha leaves behind her daughter, Brianna Mary Rappe and her grandson, Brian Steven Marks, who will forever be her eternal sunshine. She is survived by her brothers; Mark V. St. Hilaire and his wife, Kristen of Littleton, New Hampshire, and Matthew P. St. Hilaire and his wife, Cleonice of Punta Gorda, Florida; her niece, Rose L. St.Hilaire; her nephews, Matthew J. St. Hilaire, Joseph V. St. Hilaire, and Mario J. St. Hilaire; her aunts, Doris McCarthy of Chelmsford and Joan McCarthy of Davenport, Florida along with multiple generations of cousins, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian D. Rappe in 2003 and her parents.

Funeral services and internment will be held privately at the request of the family. A celebration of life will be held later next year, where family and friends will be welcome to come and share their favorite memories of Martha.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Lowell Transitional Living Center in Martha's honor.

Martha's daughter would like to take a moment to say thank you to all the people who have reached out and who have provided their support during this time. She is thankful for all of you and that Martha is finally at peace. I love you to the moon and back Mom, you will be forever missed.
