L. James "Jim" Glinos, 97, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, formerly of Boston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Sunny Acres – Legacy Care, Chelmsford. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen G. (Glennie) Glinos with whom he shared 67 years of marriage until her passing in 2022.

He was born in Boston on July 28, 1928, and was the son of the late James and Hariklia (Milas) Glinos.

Jim lived a long, full, and wonderful life, filled with family, faith, service, and an endless curiosity for the world around him. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and encouragement.

Jim proudly served his country with two years in the U.S. Navy, carrying forward throughout his life the discipline of excellence he expected of himself and gently encouraged in others. He had a gift for lifting up the "little guy," making sure no one felt unseen or unvalued.

Education and learning were at the core of Jim's life. He earned his bachelor's and master's degree both from Northeastern University where he became a senior professor. His career began at Squibb as a salesman followed by time spent at the Sanders Corporation, Kennecott Copper, and Mitre Corporation. He later started his own management consulting business.

His wide vocabulary and sharp wit were matched only by his sense of humor. He was a master gardener, an avid tennis player, and a devoted traveler who never missed the chance to tour a garden, museum, or concert hall. His love of music and art enriched not only his own life but also the lives of those fortunate enough to share in his passions.

Jim gave generously of his time, volunteering countless hours for causes and communities he cared about. His church anchored him, and his commitment to faith guided his choices and relationships.

Family, however, was always at the center of Jim's heart. He followed the endeavors of his children with joy and pride, constantly encouraging them to become their best selves. He was a protector, a cheerleader, and a steady presence, loving his family above all else. His children carry forward his legacy of love, integrity, and service.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Helen, his son Scott Glinos, and his brother John Glinos, Jim is survived by his daughter Janet Deteran, his son Stephen Glinos, his sister Irene Schaffner, his daughter-in-law Marcy Glinos, his grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will continue to honor his remarkable life and spirit.

Jim's story is one of faith, humor, generosity, and adventure. His was truly a life lived-a full and fascinating journey that touched countless others along the way.

Memorial donations may be made in Jim's name to the Central Congregational Church, 1 Worthen St., Chelmsford, MA 01824, Open Pantry of Greater Lowell at theopenpantry.org, or to the Nature Conservancy at nature.org. Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
