Bret Richard Halling passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, surrounded by love in his sanctuary in Mantua, Utah. Born on February 26, 1967, Bret’s roots in Mantua ran deep. Some of his fondest memories were spent alongside his grandparents, exploring family history and strengthening the ties that shaped him. In Mantua, he found his peace—watching hummingbirds, tending his yard and garden, enjoying the quiet beauty of nature while the dogs ran free.

A 1984 graduate of Cottonwood High School, Bret’s talents and work ethic carried him through many paths in life. He shared his gift for landscaping at Sherwood Golf Course, carried on his mother’s legacy as the owner of the Dental Studio in Midvale, and continued his dedication through his years with FedEx.

Bret’s proudest role came when he married Vicki and became a dad to Ashlee and Justin. He embraced them as his own with love, patience, and encouragement—always listening and making sure their voices were heard. Bret and Vicki’s years together created lasting memories of family life, from camping under the stars to a treasured trip to Hawaii.

In later years, Bret found his high school sweetheart, Debbie. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and welcome. Bret embraced Debbie’s family as his own, along with his, creating bonds that enriched every family gathering. Their Sunday visits, shared traditions, and the sanctuary of Mantua became the heart of their life together.

Handsome and full of life, Bret was known for the bluest eyes, a warm smile, and a laugh that could fill a room—husky, contagious, and unforgettable. His quick wit and curiosity made him a constant learner, always eager to share a fact or ask a thoughtful question. He never missed a chance to wrap you in a hug and say, “I love you, honey,” or to remind you how proud he was.

Bret’s love extended to his dogs, who were truly part of the family. Over the years, he cared for many loyal companions, his most recent being Red and Chewy, whose antics brought him endless joy. Whether running laps in the yard, snuggling close, or covering him in kisses, they filled his days with laughter and comfort. He was a proud dog papa, through and through.

Bret had a way of making people feel cared for, even in small moments—whether it was offering words of encouragement or gently collecting your things at the end of a visit with a smile and saying, “You’ve got a long drive ahead. Be safe, and call us when you get home.”

Bret is survived by his sweetheart Debbie; his beloved dogs, Red, and Chewy; his children, Ashlee (Ashley) and Justin (Austin); Darlene and Tom Dipo; Ashley (Tyler); Tori (Jason); Dalton; Zack (Lani); and his cherished grandchildren Jack, Bodhi, Nixon, Crosby, Sophia, and Vincent.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, his father, and his loyal furry companions.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Nikki and Kim from Quality Hospice for their endless compassion, care, and support.

Bret’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the joy he shared, and the laughter and kindness he left in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
