Brett S. Heckmann

Brett S. Heckmann, 66, of Warwick passed on Wednesday January 15, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital with his daughters by his side. Born in Providence, son of the late Silas J. and Rafaela (Barbone) Heckmann, stepson of the late Jocelyn Heckmann, he lived in Warwick for most of his life. Mr. Heckmann was the dedicated owner of Smithfield Liquor Mart and operated the store for over 40 years before retiring in 2020.
Brett cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had an amazing sense of humor and made it his mission to make people laugh. Brett enjoyed live music, shows, theme parks, the beach, and a well-cooked meal with his family. Ultimately, he was always up for anything when in the company of his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Deborah J. Heckmann of Warwick and his two beloved daughters, Stephanie F. Crabtree and husband Bryan of Seekonk and Lindsay J. Scruggs and husband Bradley of North Kingstown. He was the proud grandfather of Logan, Zoey, Benjamin, and Lyla. He is also survived by his stepbrother Jimmy Richard.
