Barbara Ann Heckmann of Clinton Township passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the age of 76.

Barbara was born on November 19, 1948 to Albert and Vera (Engelbrecht) Harder. On August 15, 1970, she married Ronald Heckmann and they shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2024. Barbara was a 1966 Graduate of L'Anse Creuse High School. She attended Macomb County Community College and worked as a legal secretary for many years.

For more than 40 years, Barbara was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton Township, where she was deeply involved in the church community. She gave her time and energy to many activities, from assisting at the school and quilting club to participating in the Trinity Lutheran women's league. She loved organizing and planning events and sharing her talents with others - whether by baking delicious gluten-free treats and organizing lunches and dinner fundraisers, or by knitting and crocheting beautiful items for family, friends, and charity. Beyond the church, Barbara supported the YMCA Macomb Marlin Swim Team during her daughters' involvement, and enjoyed a rich social life with her husband and friends - camping trips, a long-standing couples' euchre club, bunco nights, and sharing a glass of wine with her circle of lady friends.

Beloved wife of the late Ron; loving mother of Jennifer (Mitch Waldrep) Heckmann and Elizabeth Mendoza; grandmother of Zachary Mendoza; sister of Nancy (Michael) Kepsel, Albert John (Joyce) Harder and James (Cindy) Harder. Barbara is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A visitation for Barbara will be held on August 22, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank, Macomb. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with 9:00 a.m. instate time at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38900 Harper Ave., Clinton Township. Burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery.
