Brian Carville, loving husband, father, brother, friend, mentor, and music playlist extraordinaire, died peacefully at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina, on March 28, 2025, at age 64. He will be missed by everyone who met him, because he was, simply put, the best.
Brian was brilliant, charismatic, attentive, and-according to his wife of nearly 40 years, the highly biased Anne Carville-devastatingly handsome. Some may remember Brian running around the neighborhoods of Utica, New York, frequenting the local comic bookstores to get his hands on the latest superhero and sci-fi literature. Others may recall his decorated career in business development, from which he proudly retired in 2024.
However, his greatest traits were his generosity, kindness, and encouraging spirit. Brian never knew a stranger; if he met you once, he would always remember your name. He brushed off this skill, attributing it to his years in business, but it was truly a testament to how much he cared about others. Even during his valiant fight with cancer, he consistently put others' problems ahead of his own, often spending hours researching solutions for them. Above all, he always put family first.
The man was a gift, and he will be missed beyond belief. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Jane. His spirit lives on in his family-his wife, Anne; his daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Mark Ruff, and their daughter, Valerie; his sons, Colin and Ian; his sister, Anne Marie-and in everyone who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:30am at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, 715 Nazareth Road, Raleigh, NC 27606. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass at the church.
