North Augusta, SC – Funeral Services for Brian Keith Culligan, 64, who entered into rest April 15, 2024, will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel, Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5 until 7.
Mr. Culligan was born September 9, 1959, in Ironton, Ohio to Gary and Gloria Culligan. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati and his master's degree from Florida State University and was an avid Florida State Seminoles fan. While at Florida State University Mr. Culligan studied under Dr. Greg Choppin who earlier worked under Dr. Glen Seaborg, a Nobel Prize winner in Nuclear Chemistry. Brian was the recipient of the George Westinghouse Signature Award of Excellence in 1999 and 2000. He retired from SRS after a 20+ year career as a nuclear chemist. Mr. Culligan was a fan of baseball, particularly the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed playing softball, golf, ocean cruises, Myrtle Beach, magic cards, astronomy and Facebook. He was an avid Star Wars and Star Trek fan and enjoyed conservative political cartoons. Mr. Culligan had a quick, dry wit. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Culligan; sister, Melanie Schroeder.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Culligan; father, Gary Culligan; sister, Gina Boone (Larry)
Pallbearers will be Clint Gregory, Jackson Nix, Casey Young, Ken Cheeks, Rodger McCoig, Rodney Ratchford, Darren Pillsbury and Danny Young.
The family would like to express special thanks to the community of healthcare professionals who gave Brian exceptional care to serve his extensive medical needs due to Type 1 Diabetes, especially Dr. Abdulla Abdulla, Dr. Dan Duggan, Dr. Ionna Chirca, Steven and Austin with Jackson EMS, his physical therapists, Sara and Ashley, and a very special friend, Sheri Taylor Long.
