Nancy and Family ,
My sincere condolences on Brian´s unexpected passing.
He was a great guy and a friend to all his motorcycle buddies . For quite a few years we would all go on a ride on Thursday nights after work in the summer and fall. When I would call Brian he was always up for a ride whether it was to VT, NH or Western Mass. wherever we were going. Sometimes on the way home even though it was late and we all had to work early the next day Brian would pull along side me and give me a sign to get a coffee. We would stop at a Dunks and drink coffee and talk about the ride, family, etc. whatever anyone had on their mind then back on the bikes to get home by midnight. Brian will be missed by many and was a good friend to all.

There are people you meet in life that leave a mark and Brian Derby was one of those people, so I wanted to share. I started working at Harvard Chiropractic for Terry Anelons 12 years ago and that´s when I first met this big guy who would come for an appointment every so many weeks. He was always pleasant and we´d get to chatting whenever he came in. We would chat about our families, Vermont, motorcycles, the Wampanaug tribe on Martha´s Vineyard, my trips to Vegas. He would show me pictures of his family and I would him.
I always was happy to see him come in.
Last year on our family trip to the vineyard I sent him a photo of the Wampanaug tribe rock knowing he would like that. One year knowing I take a yearly trip with girlfriends to Vegas, I saw him at the office right before and he flips me this $100 bill and says, here, play it, if you win, we split. Unfortunately I had to tell him the next visit, I was a loser! I never win in Vegas.
He just said, hey, did you have fun?, that´s all that matters. From chatting over those 12 years, it was clear he worked hard, played hard and so loved his family.
I know he will be missed by many and wanted his family to know how he left a mark on me. I was so devastated to hear of this loss and will miss seeing his face and chatting at the office. It was a pleasure to have met him. It is with great sadness and also a smile he´ll be remembered.
