Pisgah Forest - Brian Scott Kassel, Sr., age 65, passed away on October 13, 2025.
Brian was born on September 22, 1960, in Erie County, New York, to Charles and Betty Kassel. One of six children, he grew up with four brothers and one sister. During his high school years, Brian excelled in track and field, holding multiple school records that stood well into his adulthood.
After high school, Brian settled in the small town of Darien Center, New York, where he and his wife raised their three children. In 2002, Brian and his family moved to Pisgah Forest, where they made their home for the last 23 years. Known for his strong work ethic and determination, Brian built a successful career in the lawn and garden equipment industry. Starting from the bottom, he worked his way up to the executive level through dedication and perseverance. His career and his family are a reflection of the man he was-a hardworking, loyal, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Valerie Kassel; his children, Katelyn Lund (John) and Erik Kassel; and his nine cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Brian Scott Kassel, Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina.
Brian will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his lifelong commitment to hard work, and the warmth and kindness he shared with all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
