SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE

Brian R. Marson, Jr., age 92, a former resident of Hallowell and Augusta, died peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Brian was born on May 13, 1933, the son of the late Brian R. Marson, Sr. and Norma (BuzzeIl) Marson.

He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of St. Michael's Parish. He was a past member of St. Mary's Parish council and served as President.

He attended Augusta Schools and graduated from Cony High School in 1951. He

received an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology from Southern Maine Community College in 1955.

Mr. Marson retired from Central Maine Power in 1995, after 40 years of employment with the company.

Brian served as Den Leader, Cub Master, Unit Commissioner, and District Commissioner of St. Mary's Church Boy Scout Troop #625. He was a catechism teacher of confraternity of Christian Doctrine at St. Mary's, a member and secretary of the Augusta Jaycees, was a member and Past President of the Cony High School Hockey Booster Club, a YMCA basketball coach, and coach of the Augusta East Little League.

After serving eleven years in the 142nd Ordinance Company of the Maine National Guard, Brian was honorable discharged in 1962.

Mr. Marson was an Honorary Life Member of Abnaki Council # 334 Knights of Columbus. He was Grand Knight in 1965. He served on the Maine State Council K of C as chairman of the six point program, Past District Warden of District # 6, State Historian, and as chairman of the Charity Ball for several years. He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks lodge #964 Augusta. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Brian served as a Commissioner on the Augusta Housing Authority for 23 years serving as chairman for 10 years.

Brian was predeceased by his first wife, Constance Champagne; a sister, Jean Hayes; brothers-in-law: Norman Champagne, Ronald Cote, Ronald Hopkins, Robert Champagne, Rudy Champagne, Clarence Champagne, Bertrand Champagne, George Champagne, Robert Ames, Wallace Dunphy, Kenneth Cray and Fern Doyon; sisters-in law: Lorretta Assid, Florence Doyon, Jeanette Doyon, Theresa Champagne, Norma Ames, and Shirley Micklon; nephews: Jeff Cote and Richard Champagne, and Donald Doyon.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Plusquellic Marson; son Brian Marson, III and his partner Tina Morang, daughter, Ann Marie Lapierre and her husband Gerard "Yeow" all of Augusta; bonus son, John Plusquellic and his wife Alana Arrangio of Stoneham, MA; grandchildren: Allyssa Marson, Alaina Marson, Dale Lapierre, Benjamin Lapierre, and bonus grandchildren: Nathaniel Plusquellic, and Kayla Plusquellic; sisters-in- law: Theresa Cote, Lorraine Hopkins of Augusta, Myra Champagne of Gardiner, MaryJane Cray of Palmyra and Susan Dunphy of Alabama; brothers-in-law: Richard Hayes of South Portland and Robert Mercier of Waterville and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday, September 30th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where officers and members of the B.P.O.E. # 964 are asked to meet at 6:00 PM to proceed with the "Ritual of the Dead" and members of Abnaki Council #334 3rd degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 6:30 PM to recite the rosary for their departed member. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 1st at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Augusta.

The family requests that donations be made in Brian's memory to: St. Michael School, 56 Sewall St., Augusta, ME, 04330.
