Brian Dudley Mikesell

Brian Mikesell, a dedicated and passionate individual who lived a life filled with love, adventure, and service, passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on September 3, 1947, in Washington, DC, Brian grew up in the surrounding area, where he cultivated a love for the great outdoors and developed a strong work ethic that defined his life's journey.

Brian was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving his country as a Military Policeman from 1971 to 1972. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of honor and duty, values he carried throughout his life. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 503 of Calabash, where he found camaraderie and support among fellow veterans, always striving to give back to the community and those who served alongside him.

Professionally, Brian worked as a truck driver in and around the Washington area. His dedication to his job was evident in the many miles he covered, ensuring goods reached their destinations safely and on time. His work ethic was matched only by his enthusiasm for life and the world around him.

In his personal life, Brian was a man of diverse interests, though his greatest passion was golf. Known for his love of the game, he spent countless hours on the course, relishing every swing and putt. In his younger years, Brian also enjoyed hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace and reflection outside the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Brian's adventurous spirit led him to visit Maui often, where he created cherished memories with his beloved partner of over 16 years, Jennifer Rosonowski. Together, they shared a love that was both deep and enduring, epitomizing partnership and companionship.

Preceded in death by his son, Brian, affectionately known as "Little B," Brian faced life's challenges with resilience and determination. He is survived by Jennifer, who stood by his side through life's joys and sorrows, offering unwavering love and support.

A memorial service with military honors will be held in his memory on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 503, located at 10277 Beach Drive, Calabash, NC 28467. Family, friends, and all who knew Brian are invited to gather in celebration of his remarkable life, sharing stories, laughter, and tears in honor of a man who inspired so many.
