Brian Davis Mosley, 55 years of age, passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 13, 2023.
Brian was born in Alexandria, LA, on October 4, 1967. Early in Brian's life his family moved to Baton Rouge, LA. Brian graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1985. He briefly attended Louisiana College before transferring to Louisiana State University where he graduated in 1990. Brian then attended Southern University Law Center where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1994. He was admitted into the Bar in 1994.
In his early years of practicing law, Brian began his career as a law clerk assistant under Judge Allan Krake in Grant Parish. He then became an Assistant District Attorney for the Grant Parish District Attorney's Office under District Attorney Joseph P. Beck II. He also partnered with Beck at that time in a civil practice.
In 2009, Brian transferred to the Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office where he served as an assistant district attorney for the rest of his career. He also held his own civil practice throughout this time. In addition to these positions, Brian worked for as a prosecutor for Alexandria City Court. Throughout his career Brian's passion became fighting the war against drugs. He was a fair attorney who was sensitive enough to his position to discern when to prosecute or when to give a second chance. Brian was also very passionate about supporting the families of victims who have suffered wrongful deaths in this community.
Brian was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, who used his career as a platform for his ministry. He loved people and wanted to help everyone to a path filled with purpose. He has played an intricate role in helping so many people to become sober and starting their lives over to a better path.
Brian was married to Susan Croom Mosley. Just before his death the couple celebrated their 25th anniversary. Brian and Susan were married in 1998. Once married he shared the responsibility of raising her daughter, Madison, whom he later legally adopted. He is survived by his four children Madison Croom Mosley, Olivia Grace Mosley, Jackson Davis Mosley, and Preston Henry Mosley. He is also the very proud grandfather and best friend to his granddaughter, Emberlee Grace Nichole Clinton.
Brian was very involved in his church, The Pentecostals of Alexandria. He loved his church family and shared a deep bond with many of the members. He was passionate about serving under the Above All/Messiah ministry. Like so many, Brian believed in exposing as many people as possible to the story of Jesus Christ. During his involvement, Brian was cast in the role of a priest every time he was in the performance. The POA Messiah ministry will forever hold a special place to the heart of the Mosley family.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Horace E. Mosley, his fraternal grandparents, Horace E. Mosley and Maxine Bankston Mosley, his maternal grandparents, Thurman and Grace Davis, and Jesse and Helen Richard. Also preceding Brian in death were two of his favorite uncles, Floyd Davis and Preston Mosley.
Brian is survived by his parents, John and Sandra Richard, his two siblings and their families, John Blake Richard (Kristy), and Elizabeth R. Griffin (Shane). He is also survived by his nephews John Brady Richard, Andrew Richard, Luke Richard, Grant Griffin, and Blake Griffin. He truly enjoyed watching his nephews grow into young men and was very proud of each of them.
Brian would like to give honor to the Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office as his honorary pall bearers. He would also like to personally recognize every first responder and law enforcement officer in this community for their daily courageous and selfless dedication. He understood the stress of your job and supported you completely.
Visitation and Going home service will be held at The Pentecostals Of Alexandria located at 2817 Rapides Ave. Alexandria, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Services will begin at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ball, LA. With the assistance of Pastors Gentry Mangun and John Russell, Bishop Anthony Mangun will conduct his service.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Phiilip Terrell, John Flynn, John Giordano, Brandon Chatagnier, Bryan Cook, and David Williams.
In lieu of flowers, the Mosley family requests that donations be given to the rehabilitation charity POA Recovery and Begin Again, PO Box 8197, Alexandria, LA 71306.
