Brian Thomas Nieland, son of Paul and Connie (Lieting) Nieland, was born on March 25, 1961, in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm north of Breda and attended St. Bernard's School. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing on the Breda Merchants slow pitch team with his many friends. His love of baseball started at a young age and in high school he was on the Breda Bobcats championship team.
On July 24, 1981, Brian was united in marriage with Denise Pudenz at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel with Reverend Robert McClintock and Reverend LeRoy Suentjens officiating.
Brian was a very loving and caring husband, dad and grandpa. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and really treasured being a grandpa. He loved special times like teaching Aisha and Will at harvest time how to drive the tractor and "catch" loads with the auger wagon even though he'd say that the buddy seat in the tractor wasn't any too big!
He was a farmer at heart and really enjoyed checking crops in his old Chevy truck. Brian raised pigs and cattle and developed great relationships with cattle buyers and truckers. After he retired in 2020, he also enjoyed helping Aaron and Alyce with anything they needed help with. The family was the center of his world. Brian also enjoyed his trips and times in Arizona. He enjoyed watching his grandkid's softball and baseball games, hashing over the next morning in the shop how things could have went better.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Denise; his children: Aaron (Alyce) Nieland and Adam Nieland; his grandchildren: Aisha Nieland, Will Nieland and Ellie Nieland; his dad Paul Nieland; his siblings: Kathy (Mike) Tasler, Nancy Mueggenberg, Karen (Kevin) Grundmeier and Ken (Shelly) Nieland; his brothers-in-law Tim (Peg) Pudenz and John (Terry) Pudenz; and by many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Connie Nieland, a brother-in-law Mark Mueggenberg, and Denise's parents Wilbur and Clarise Pudenz.
