David Allen Butler, age 57, of Eden Prairie, MN, and formerly of Carroll, IA, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at his home.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 25, 2025 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church - St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Peter Pham. Lector for the Mass will be Mary Beth Polich. Gift Bearers will be Molly and Austin Gehm. Casket bearers will be Austin Gehm, Rycke Fisch, Chad Humlicek, Chris Humlicek, Mike Humlicek, and Jason Zetterwall. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion and the United States Air Force.
Visitation will be held at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll on Monday from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

David was born on February 14, 1968 in Denver, CO. He was the son of Les and Rose (Niehaus) Butler. David grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Following his military service, he attended Texas A & M University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. David lived in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and worked for Ameriprise Financial for over 20 years. He enjoyed riding his bike, music, comedy, and nature.
David is survived by his mother Rose Butler of Des Moines; a sister Kyla Gehm of Johnston, IA; a niece Molly Gehm of Waukee and a nephew Austin Gehm (Dena) of West Des Moines and their children Luca and Rose.
David was preceded in death by his father Les Butler in 2022; and a brother-in-law Tim Gehm.
