Brian Patrick Nordquist was born on November 25th, 1974; at 10 pounds he was larger than life and brought joy to his parents and grandparents. Growing up, much time was spent on the family farm in Iowa. At a young age he excelled in baseball, playing in little league. As a lefty he was a natural at first base and pitcher. He also spent time building Lego structures as well as BMX bikes and playing frisbee golf. His first golf clubs were sawed off clubs from his grandpa's set. My grandpa needed to keep us busy so he could get a round in. He continued to enjoy golf throughout his life. Brian was able to do a bit of traveling with his parents/grandparents getting as far as Hawaii on one occasion, but for the most part stayed close to home.
Brian was married for a short time in his 20's to his long-time girlfriend, he was very protective of his wife and was quick to stand up if he felt she was being mistreated in any way, a trait he carried for people he didn't even know. When this relationship failed, Brian took this very hard and struggled to get over the disillusionment of his marriage.
Brian was said to have had a near genius IQ, he would often surprise everyone with the topics he would bring up at family gatherings. His interests ranged from history, science fiction and movies. He also had an astounding memory and knowledge of baseball and football stats. It was thought he would make a great sports commentator. His IQ served him well, but it did not afford him the confidence he lacked; he worried that others would see only his shortcomings and view him as a "bad person". He always hoped to do better for others to see who he was.
Later in life Brian became very interested in the culinary arts and was eager to cook food and share it with others. During good times he was all about health and would spend hours at the gym, as well as strictly monitoring his diet. In more recent times he enjoyed time at home with his 2 beloved cats.
On July 8th, 2024, Brian was in a car accident, complications from that accident would significantly compromise Brian's already fragile body. Brian spent the rest of his days fighting for his life. Several hospitals, teams and teams of doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to get him to a place where he could leave the hospital. His family was at his side every day encouraging him to continue to fight. He had a desire to live, but in the end, the trauma his body had experienced was more than it could take. Brian was never able to realize his dream of waking up at home next to his feline companions. Brian passed on October 13th, 2024, quietly, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lester (Red) and Juanita (June) Robison, uncle Ricky Robison, grandparents Stuart and Helen Nordquist, ½ sister Christine Rosholt. Brian is survived by his parents Ronald (Rocky) and Vickie Nordquist, sister Sarah Meyer (John), nephew Max Bjerke, niece Simone Bjerke, ½ sister Elizabeth Rosholt Winden (Danny) and many more extended family members.
