Mary Jo Nordquist, age 82, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2025.
Mary Jo was born on August 10, 1942 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Mary Jo was predeceased by her parents, Joe C. Wood and Bernice (House) Wood. Mary Jo was a teacher and home maker. She and her husband, Fred, moved from Syracuse, New York to Moncks Corner, South Carolina in 2005. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner, Gideons Auxiliary, and enjoyed singing in the choir, pool aerobics at the local YMCA, and attending book club.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Frederic J. Nordquist of Moncks Corner, SC; a daughter, Sonya (Hans) Altenbach of Charleston, SC; two sons, Philip (Kathy) Nordquist of Joliet, IL, and Eric (Amy) Nordquist of West Harford, CT; two sisters, Judy Adams of San Bernardino, CA, Susan McFarland of Claremore, OK; one brother, Paul (Julie) Wood of Tulsa, OK; and nine grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on a future determined date at First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Gideons International (The GIDEONS Processing Center, PO BOX 97251, Washington DC 20090-7251) or InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting the following web page.
