Brian William North

Brian William North passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 after a gifted life for which he was overwhelmingly grateful. The greatest of those gifts were the family and friends who surrounded him at his passing. Brian was born on June 6, 1965 to Bruce Albert North and Judy Nolan Nelson. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Sueann Hanemann North, his children, Molly Bilich (Luke), and William North (Julie); grandchildren, Amalie Bilich, Wesley North, Luka Bilich and baby North. Also survived by his siblings, Michael North (Terri) and Katherine North Costantini, his brother-in-law, Robert Hanemann, and his nephews, Eric North, Jack North, Maxx Hanemann, Nash Hanemann, and Nate Costantini. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Brian attended St. Andrew the Apostle elementary school and Christian Bothers School. He was a proud graduate of Jesuit High School, Class of 1983. Brian received a Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University and a MBA from the University of New Orleans. Brian spent his entire career working at Fifth District Savings Bank, starting as a teller, working through several positions, and becoming President & CEO in 2016. He also served on the bank’s Board of Directors. Brian had a special love for his colleagues at Fifth District, past and present. Instilled with a spirit of service that he gained through his time at Jesuit High School, Brian proudly served his community through numerous civic and charitable organizations. At the time of his death, Brian was the Chairman of Jesuit High School’s Board of Directors, a member of the Board of the Jesuit High School Foundation, chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Ochsner Medical Center, Westbank campus, immediate past Chairman of the Louisiana Banker’s Association Board of Directors, member of the Board of Directors at St. Mary’s Dominican High School, and a member of the Board of Directors of Legatus, New Orleans. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Catholic Community Foundation, St. Andrew School Foundation, and was a member of the Fore! Kids Foundation. He also enjoyed decades of retreats at the Manresa House of Retreats, where he served on the Board of Directors from 2010-2018 and was President in 2015. Brian was grateful and proud to be a member of Jesuit’s Class of 1983, what a generous and special group of men. Together, they have done so much to serve those in need throughout our community over the years both through their annual turkey drive and most recently through Project ’83. AMDG! A lifelong Westbanker, Brian loved being from south Louisiana and all that comes with that…the food, the festivals, the Saints, yearly rides on Thoth Sunday, and so much more. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying countless trips over the years with his good friends traversing the saltwater marshes near his home. He was also an avid golfer, where he enjoyed numerous rounds with his close friends and family. Brian found so much joy in his “happy place,” his second home in Pass Christian, MS. Most of all, Brian cherished his relationships with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his numerous friends. Brian loved America and all that our country stands for. He was abundantly grateful to all those who served our country through military service. God Bless America!! A  Memorial Funeral Mass celebrating Brian’s life will be celebrated at Jesuit High School’s Chapel of the North American Martyrs, 4133 Banks St., New Orleans, LA. on June 14, 2025. Visitation will start at 9:00 am with Mass at 12:00 Noon.
