Local British Music Legend Passes Away

Brian O'Shea left us on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Brian moved to Eureka, SD in April 2021 after retiring from his music career in Las Vegas, NV. Born in Glascow, Scotland, of Michael and Helen O'Shea, Brian started out as a shipyard worker in England, an occupation which ended when he began his music career in London. Using the stage name Brian Keith, he was a member of the band Plastic Penney, a British rock sensation which had several top ten hits on the British charts, including his song "Everything I am," which made it to number 6, followed by "Whispering Softly that I Love You" while with The Congregation, climbing to the number 4 spot. He also performed as Annas in the classic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Brian served three years with the Canadian Army Band and later immigrated to the United States where he developed a lucrative career as a session musician in Las Vegas.

While in Las Vegas, Brian married Roberta (Brydon) O'Shea, when he began enjoying the company of his stepchildren, Michael Nohrden (d. 2007), novelist Patrick Nohrden of Reno, Nevada, Vivian (Nohrden) Fitzgerald of Eureka, Irene (Nohrden) Mulqueen of Eureka, and Kathleen (Nohrden) McGinnis of South Carolina. Brian's own children, Kevin, Colin, and Nicola, all reside in England. Brian's siblings include brother Jerry and sister Maureen, both of whom predeceased him, and is survived by two brothers Steve, who lives in Spain, and Michael, who resides in Port Glascow, Scotland.

Brian's wife Roberta continues to live in Eureka. His life will be memorialized in a private gathering.
