Brian James Parker, 53 of New Athens, IL was born August 8th,1971 in Red Bud, IL. He passed away Monday December 23, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Brian previously worked for many years at Wiegmanns in Freeburg, IL and then at Prairie State Generating Company LLC. Brian was also a co-owner of L+B's East End Bar and Grill in New Athens, IL. While Brian was working, he was an active member of the New Athens Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. He was also a member of St. Agatha Parish along with the Knights of Columbus. He also served as driver for the New Athens ambulance service.
Although Brian faced many challenges over the last few years, he was still able to do the things he loved like being an avid Blues Hockey fan, watching wrestling, and visits with friends at the Bullpen and Harriss Hideout.
He was preceded in death by his Father James A Parker who passed away June 18, 2002. Grandparents George and Elizabeth Parker, Joe and Dora Grott. Along with his Godparents Ray and Cecilia Fulte.
Brian is survived by his mother Helen L. Parker, his sister Beth (Jeff "Frost") Vayette, and niece/Godchild Taylor Vayette all of New Athens, IL. Survived by aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Agatha Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus or to the New Athens Fire Department.
Visitation: 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday December 27, 2024, and from 9 – 11 a.m. on Saturday December 28, 2024, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday December 28, 2024, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL with Fr. Michael Arockiam and Fr. James Nall officiating. Interment will follow at St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery in New Athens, IL
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
