Boonville – Brian Joseph Ray, 51, went to be with his Lord and Savior March 13, 2024. He was born June 7, 1972 in Surry County to William Larry Ray and Elizabeth “Libby” Freeman Ray. Brian played football at Starmount High School and Catawba College. He was an All American his Junior and Senior year for offensive tackle at Catawba College and was invited to try out for The Carolina Panthers. If he wasn’t playing football, he was watching his son Samuel play football and was also a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time fishing. Brian was a member at Deep Creek Friends Meeting. Brian was preceded in death by his father, William Larry Ray. He is survived by his mother, Libby Ray; son, Samuel Ray; step-children, Allison Jones, Taylor Jones; step grandchild, Colton Jones; brother, Michael (Sarah) Ray; nieces, Jordan Mays, Destiny Ray, Olivia Ray, Maggie (Anthony Rangel) Ray. His memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Deep Creek Friends Meeting by the Rev. Randy Quate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Memorials can be made to Deep Creek Friends Youth, 1140 Deep Creek Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Ray family.
