Brian Sargent Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2025.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Brian Joseph Sargent of Tyngsborough on October 23, 2025.
Born in Lowell, Brian was the son of the late Leigh and Jean (Howard) Sargent and brother to Charlotte, Leigh, Carole and William – all of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Lynda. He is also survived by his son Adam and wife Gretchen, daughter Amy and husband Jim Regan, and their mother Judith (Crocker) White. He was married to the late Janet (Manson) Sargent and is survived by her children Heidi and husband Jeff Ciampa and Gretchen and husband Frank Horgan. There are also many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Inspired by his Lowell High School physics teacher, Brian went on to earn his Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute. His after school job repairing TVs at Garmann's at the age of 15 became a 33-year career with GenRad in Bolton and West Concord where he retired as Senior Principal Engineer. There Brian achieved multiple patents, participated in unique adventures and made lifelong friends
Brian's philosophy was "figure it out" and he did everything himself – from taking apart car and boat engines to building his own home. His commitment to Lake Massapoag began when he was just a little kid rowing a pram while his father fished for trout. It survived a wonderful water-skiing, fast boats, stunt-filled, often daredevil, death-defying youth with his friends and lasted a lifetime following in his father's and many others' footsteps in service to the Rod and Gun Club. He was devoted to researching the Lake's history and preserving its health and natural beauty for generations of fishermen and water sports enthusiasts like himself. We enjoy the fruits of his labor and vision to this day.
Thank you to all those who cared for Brian during his illness, especially Anita and Emily who treated him like family.
