Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Beaver on Sep. 16, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow we announce that our dear Brian Edward Smith passed away after an unexpected medical event on September 15th, 2025. Brian was born July 12th, 1991 in
Beaver, Utah to his beloved parents Eddie and Debbie Smith. He was a local boy through and through-draggin' Main, riding dirt bikes in the hills, driving his Chev up the mountain with the windows down-nothing smelled better than wet sagebrush to Brian. Beaver was his home and his home was a part of him no matter where he went.
After graduating from high school, he attended SUU for one year before transferring to Dixie State College, eventually landing in Northern Utah where he discovered a talent and passion for electrical and construction management-a career he would spend the next thirteen years tirelessly building. From his formative time at CV Electric, where he worked for seven years, growing from an Apprentice to a Journeyman, to becoming the Super for Salisbury, eventually Riding Homes, all while starting his own venture and electrical business. Brian was known to all who worked with him as one of the hardest working and most dedicated-he did careful, clean work and wouldn't stop until the job was done right, and done well. He was the guy people called when they had a question, a problem, or just needed someone solid to lean on. Brian picked up the phone and listened. While he evolved to become a smart and savvy businessman, Brian always took great care in all his business dealings and had deep consideration for those he worked with. He was one of those rare individuals that everyone wanted in their life and in their corner. But Brian was also just a guy you wanted to hang out with. He loved snowmobiling, boating, riding his Harley, drag racing, and shooting-all of which he loved best when his dad, Eddie, was by his side-he was a precision marksman who loved showing his nephews who's boss, probably a little too much, whenever playin' rounds of Annie Oakley.
But even with how hard he worked and how hard he played, Brian's first joy and true priority was his family. He not only made regular visits and calls home, even as an adult, there was nobody Brian enjoyed chatting with on the phone more than his mom Debbie. He loved being their son. Everything Brian did, he did for his wife, Josie, and their two young children, Vivian, 5, and Harvey, 4. He was a hands on and intentional father, the kind who never missed bedtime, would answer every question and be there for every game, no matter what else he had on his plate. He loved his babies and he loved Josie. Friends for sixteen years and sweethearts for thirteen, Brian and Josie met in Mike's parking lot after Josie was tired of third-wheeling on a friend's date and wanted one of her own. There were more than a few noble contenders and much to his buddies' dismay, Brian was the only one who stood a chance. They quickly became forever friends and began building a life together when they married on August 15th, 2015. To know Brian and Josie as a couple was to know how it should be done. They were partners in the truest sense-sharing everything and walking through life holding hands and always together. It was a love story you couldn't make up. Nobody would believe you. But we all believed in them… and we always will.
Brian is survived by his loving wife Josie Smith, daughter Vivian, son Harvey, parents Eddie and Debbie Smith, sisters Shelia White (Ryan), Shawna Swenson, Marci Graff (Mark), grandmother Jean Carter, his nieces and nephews, and is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Clark and Carol Smith, and his maternal grandfather Allen Carter.
