Bride Randall Hess

Bride Randall Hess, age 81, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

He was born on August 8, 1944, and was the son of the late Harold Bride Hess and Flossie Hubbard Horton and her husband, Leonard Horton, who was a wonderful stepfather to Bride.

He spent his entire life in the Swords Creek area and worked hard throughout. He was a former coal miner and the owner and operator of Hess Trucking. Bride loved the Lord and attending church, and he loved his family just as much. His favorite pastime was actually working; he always wanted to be doing something and staying busy. He would never ask for help; you would have to come upon him and see that he was struggling, then he would still deny that he needed help. He took great pride in all he did. Bride would always help anyone in need, however he could.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Smith, and her husband, Claude.

Daughters: Michelle Kennedy and husband, David; Melissa Lowe and husband, Billy; Bridgette Hess; Brittany Mayo

Sons: Randall Dwayne Hess; and Bride Hess, his wife, Tay

Sisters: Peggy Christian; Jean Shreve and her husband, Dale; and Carrie Boyd and her husband, Junior

Grandchilden: Isabella Lowe; Bryson Lowe; Breanna Kennedy; Chasity Kennedy; Jaeliahna Hess; Bride Hess,III; Aleah Mayo; Adriana Mayo; Vinny Mayo; and Tommy Mayo

Funeral services for Bride Randall Hess will be conducted on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 1 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia, with the Rev. Dennis White and Rev. Tom Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Bride Hess, Billy Lowe, Bryson Lowe, Dale Shreeve, Scott Christian, and Rick Christian will serve as pallbearers. Members of the UMWA District 17 Sub-28 Chaplain Corps will conduct honors at the beginning of the funeral on Tuesday. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
