Bridgette Gurley Carlton, 55, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on October 12, 2022, after a long battle with renal cancer. Bridgette was born on October 2, 1967 in Hartwell, GA, the daughter of Joe Gurley and the late Anne Stovall Gurley.
She was a graduate of Hart County High School, class of 1985. She attended Greenville Technical College and Tri-County Technical College and studied nursing. She worked 22 years with ophthalmologist Dr. Victor A Crosby. Bridgette married Marcus Carlton in 1988 and they were married 34 years.
Bridgette was preceded in death by step mother, Ann Stovall Gurley; sister, Rebecca; brother, Barry.
Bridgette is survived by husband, Marc, and two sons, Christopher (Britney) of Braselton, GA; Clay (Kelsey) of Statham, GA; father, Joe Gurley; and grandchildren Emmett and Thomas. Other survivors include her niece, Brianna; nephew, Corey; and great nephews, Luke and Greyson.
A graveside service will take place at 3:30 P.M. Friday, October 14, 2022 in Elmhurst Cemetery with Reverend Kenny Martin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ramp Ministry at Elberton First Baptist Church, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, Georgia 30635, or to T.J. & Friends Foundation at P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
