John D. Cotham of Estill Springs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born to the late John P. and Louise Bass Cotham on February 10, 1938, and grew up in Franklin and Warren Counties of Tennessee. For over 40 years he served as a minister for the Church of Christ in Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi and was currently attending and serving the Cowan Church of Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends who he loved dearly. He loved western movies and keeping current on world news. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Cotham, his grandparents, numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law and many aunts and uncles. John is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Margaret Cotham; son, John "Nash" Cotham and daughters Renea and Rhonda Cotham; sister, Janice Patrick and brother, Gene Cotham; as well as many nieces and nephews.

I just learned of John's passing a day or so ago we both attended I.B.C. together in the early 80's. John always had a smile on his face and a good story to share. He was an uplifter, a gifted speaker and writer he will surely be missed. Prayers and God's blessing to his precious family in their time of bereavement. Lisa and I loved this Godly Christian family.
