Bruce Dean Beck

Bruce Dean Beck, age 80, U.S. Navy veteran, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1987,formerly of Bartlett, IL, Albuquerque, NM, and Denver, CO passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at his home. He was born on September 19, 1944 in Newman Grove, NE.
Beloved husband of Maureen Beck (McKay), married on July 2, 1976, loving father of Katherine Beck Long of Richmond, VA, Michael James (Lianne Zackler) Beck of Los Angeles, CA, and Brian Patrick (Tess Hardy) Beck of Lombard, IL, adored grandfather of Evan and Alex Long, Colin Beck, devoted son of the late Lester and Judith (Peterson) Beck, dear brother of the late James Beck, son-in-law of the late Joseph and Shirley McKay, fond brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.
Bruce's love and enthusiasm for other people is present in his lifelong vocation to art. He was a musician, performing vocals and guitar in folk and rock bands inspired by many of his favorites, Robert Johnson, Doc Watson, and Bob Dylan, among others. As a draftsman and illustrator, he studied visual art, receiving his BA certification with the US Navy, and then fostered a successful career in graphic design, where he partnered alongside internationally recognized organizations and firms, including Unimark International in the city of Chicago, where he met his wife Maureen, and they began their life together. He was an avid bicyclist, an ardent reader and storyteller, a coffee connoisseur, and ever inspired and invested in others. He never gave up his work nor ceased to pursue design, art, or music. He left a deep impression of kindness and generosity on those he met, loved, and worked with.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 5th, 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 2220 Lisson Rd., Naperville, IL 60565.
