On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, Bruce Alan Julien, an adoring husband, brother, father, grandfather great grandfather and dear friend to many, passed away in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was 89 years old.
Bruce was born in Brooklyn, NY to Dr. Lewis and Sylvia Julien. He spent his early years in NY before moving with his family to Miami Beach where he lived until he went to college. Bruce attended Tulane University and before graduation was accepted early to University of Miami Medical School where he graduated the top of his class. He returned to New Orleans for his internship.
Bruce met the love of his life, Joyce, in 1960 while completing his internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology. They had a whirlwind romance and married later that same year.
Soon after, Bruce and Joyce moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee where Bruce was a US AirForce physician. In 1965, they moved to Miami where they raised their family.
Bruce commenced his ob-gyn practice in North Dade. He held hospital privileges at Mt Sinai, North Miami General, Parkway, Miami Heart and Aventura hospitals. His practice expanded throughout his career. After retiring from private practice, Bruce continued his passion for caring for women by providing maternity care at clinics for women in need.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He cherished his time with family and friends, sharing with them his love of travel, art, theater and the opera. Bruce and Joyce were strong supporters of the arts and Jewish causes. Bruce and Joyce's extensive global travels included meeting artists and performers, and learning about them and their crafts. In his eighties, Bruce began taking art classes where his talent blossomed as he became an accomplished painter. He served as President of the community at The Plaza at Park square for three years where he advocated for innovative programming enriching the lives of all residents,
Bruce left his indelible mark of kindness on those who knew him. He is survived by his loving brothers, Richard Julien (Judy) and Peter Julien (Sydney); his three children, Cheryl Kaufman (Dana), Stephen Julien (Suely) and Susan Cramer (Steven); his 5 grandchildren Jamie Julien (Harold), Lindsay Serviansky (Michael),Spencer Kaufman (Rachel), Jordan Julien (Ariel) and Matthew Cramer; and great granddaughter, Juliette Serviansky.
