Bruce E. LaFlair, Sr., age 62, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 28th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. Per his request, there will be no formal visitation or funeral services. Family will be arranging a celebration of life per Bruce's wishes.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Denise LaFlair of Ogdensburg; his children Bruce LaFlair, Jr. of Ogdensburg, NY, and Erica LaFlair and her fiancé, Branden Foote, of Ogdensburg, NY, three grandchildren, Tennysan LaFlair and Kalliope LaFlair of Dover, DE and Brayden Foote of Waddington, NY, siblings, Richard LaFlair and his wife, Teresa, of Ogdensburg, NY and Sally LaFlair of Ogdensburg, NY; brother-in-law, Leroy Rand of Ogdensburg, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bruce is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Katherine LaFlair and two sisters, Rosemary LaJoy and Sandra Rand.
Bruce was born on July 21, 1961, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of the late Henry P. and Katherine (Fournier) LaFlair. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1979 and enlisted in the United States Army where he served for three years until his honorable discharge in 1982. Upon his return from military service, Bruce married Denise M. Brien on May 21, 1983, at St Mary's Cathedral in Ogdensburg with Rev. Kevin O'Brien officiating. He worked for a time at Kirby Construction Company before he began his career with ENI Mechanical in Gouverneur, quickly becoming an integral part of the team leading to his well-deserved position of Job Supervisor. He remained with the company for over 40 years of service until his retirement due to illness.
Bruce lived a life filled with joy and adventure, often found navigating the serene waters of the St. Lawrence River on his beloved boat. When on land, he enjoyed the camaraderie of bowling alleys, the thrill of the hunt, riding his Harley Davidson, and the strategic game of pool. As a past member of the Ogdensburg Pool League and Ogdensburg Moose Lodge, he cherished the bonds formed within these communities. Yet, above all, Bruce's greatest passion was the time he spent surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind cherished memories that will endure through generations.
Donations may be made in Bruce's memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
