Bruce H. Mitchell, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the age of 74. Loving husband of Vicki Mitchell (nee Eddington); devoted father of Courtney (Dianne) Mitchell, and Carrie (Mark) Roach; cherished grandfather of Cooper Doza (Madison Martin), Gabi Doza, Clinton Doza, and Faith Mitchell; beloved brother of Carol Wittman, Gina (Dan) O'Brien; treasured nephew of Frances Jacoby and Helen Fair; Bruce is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents; Theodore and Lenora “Tiny” (nee Smith); and his in-laws Clinton (Rosalie "Tootie") Eddington, Sr, and his brother Thomas Mitchell; his brothers-in-law Jack Wittman, and Clinton “CH” Eddington, Jr.; his uncles, Jack Jacoby, and Bill Fair.
Bruce served his country with pride in the United States Army Reserve and was a dedicated member of the Carpenter’s Local 1987, working 43 years for HBD contracting. His contributions extended to being a 4-H Project leader and supporter of the St. Charles County Fair. He served many years on the Orchard Farm School Board and was a proud member of the school district and community. Bruce was also a respected Mason.
Bruce devoted numerous years to playing Santa, for family, friends, churches, schools, community members and strangers. For several years he had the opportunity to fly by helicopter into St. Louis Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital as Santa. Through all these experiences he brought much joy to everyone. Bruce was passionate about antique tractors and found joy in camping with his family and friends. Dearly loved, he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorials may be made in Bruce's name to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital or Orchard Farms VFW Post 4219.
Please join the family in a celebration of life open house at the Orchard Farm VFW on March 9, 2024, beginning at 2:00 pm. 6030 N. Highway 94, Portage Des Sioux, MO 63373. Appetizers and snacks will be provided.
