Bruce Edward Penzien, 78, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025. He was surrounded by his wife and family.
Bruce was born on August 29, 1947 to Floyd and Margaret Penzien. He grew up on the family farm est. in 1887 with his sisters Margaret, Cheryl, and Helen. At the age of 18, Bruce took over the farm after his father had an accident.
Bruce farmed a variety of vegetables on 65 acres of muck land. For 50 years, he sold his produce at the Flint Farmers Market before moving to the Davison Farmers Market in 2019. He was well known for his potatoes and carrots.
Bowling was a favorite pastime of Bruce's. Many nights after market he would bowl on leagues with family and friends at Cedar Lanes in Imlay City.
Bruce would come to marry Shanna Rae in 1984. They met at Market 103 where Shanna worked with her family. Together they raised 6 children. Through great love and devotion, the family would grow substantially.
Bruce is survived by his wife Shanna. His children Karen, Brian, Amy, Amber, Danielle, and Elizabeth. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He is proceeded in death by 2 grandchildren.
To know Bruce was to know kindness and love. He met everyone with a caring heart. He walked through this world with a love of farming, family, and a great respect for all.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life in honor of Bruce will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Bruce can be made to the Lapeer County Foster Kids Christmas Party PO Box 24 Imlay City, MI 48444.
