Melinda Lee Williamson, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on November 16, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 3, 1949, in Flint, Michigan, she was a wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
Melinda graduated from Lakeville High School in 1967, where she was known for her spirited personality and kind heart. She met many people through the jobs she worked at as a wrecker driver for Verns Towing, from working in the office at the Village of Columbiaville. Melinda also worked at a Hardware, Meijer and McCorys Dime Store in Lapeer.
Her life was a testament to her adventurous spirit and her love for her family. Melinda was a loving mother to her daughters, Lisa Burnette and Jennifer (Jeff) Kalbfleish, and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Tim (Chelsea) Taylor, Frank (Rachel) Williamson, Cheyenne (Derek) Woods, Thomas Sherington, Brandon Sherington, Zach Burnette, Brian Burnette (Cheyenne Mathers), and Tony (Alesha) Romano. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Emma, Chase, Karter, Kade, Wilder, Dominic, and Ava. Her siblings, John Newcombe and Mike Newcombe, and her cousin Betty Baker, will remember her fondly, as will her special friend Lenore Scott.
Melinda's interests were a reflection of her creative and lively spirit. She had a passion for sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were as much a part of her legacy as her loving nature. Her love for bingo, casino trips, and puzzles provided her with much joy and an opportunity to share laughter and good times with family and friends.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Ellen Newcombe; her son, Jake Williamson; her husband, Vern Williamson Jr.; and her special friends, David Scott and Russ and Linda Kelly. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her memory will be cherished forever.
As we bid farewell to Melinda Lee Williamson, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, faith, and adventure. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memory will be a guiding light for generations to come. Melinda's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of joy, compassion, and unwavering love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation for Melinda will be held 3:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2025 at Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Memorial contributions in memory of Melinda may be made to the family. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
