Bruce Louis Pickard, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. He was born on April 25, 1953, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin in Manitowoc County to Bernard and Harriet Pickard. Bruce was married to his beloved spouse, Marta R. Moncada, for almost 50 years.
Bruce attended high school in Manitowoc before joining the Army. Unfortunately, he had to leave the Army after completing training due to the untimely death of his father. Despite this setback, Bruce found his passion in the maintenance field during his young adult years. His maintenance career took him and his family all over Texas and eventually led them to Minnesota in 1989. In 2016, he retired as a maintenance supervisor from the Kandiyohi County Jail. In May of 2023 Bruce and Marta moved to Arizona.
Bruce was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and grilling. He had a deep passion for football and was an unwavering supporter of the Green Bay Packers. Most importantly, his biggest joy in life was being with Marta.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father Bernard Pickard, mother Harriet Pauze, stepfather Joe Pauze, as well as his brothers Mick, Bud, Michael, and John.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marta; their daughter Chasity (Don) of Arizona; their sons Justin (Tanya) of Minnesota and Michael (Lisa) of Arizona; grandchildren Samantha (Wyatt), Bradyn, Chase, Jaryn, Isabella, Gabriella, Anabella, and Louie; great-grandchildren Everett and Oliver; and sisters Ginger, Marcy and Dawn.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center Limited Hunt—an organization that provides hunting opportunities for people with disabilities. Bruce volunteered for this program and spoke fondly of it often.
