Bruce "Rick" Rickert, a beloved member of the Louisville community and a cherished family man, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 79, after a battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born on April 2, 1946, in Louisville, Rick was a proud graduate of Butler High School before continuing his education at the University of Louisville. He dedicated over 20 years of his life to a rewarding career as a Data Analyst.
Rick had an array of interests that showcased his vibrant spirit and enthusiasm for life. A lifelong fan of the University of Louisville, he enjoyed attending games and celebrating their achievements. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing and gardening. He was also an avid reader and a trivia enthusiast.
Family was the cornerstone of Rick’s life, and he took great pride in his grandsons, Benjamin and Nicholas Wolff. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his son Mark Rickert and his wife Alisen, daughter Karen Wolff and her husband Matt, and son Kevin Rickert. Also remembering him fondly are his former wife, Donna Rickert, and his sister, Janice Cassady, and her husband Dean.
Rick’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is reunited in spirit with his parents, Louis and Madie Rickert, and his late sister Bobbie Throneberry, who have both surely welcomed him with open arms.
As we honor the life of Bruce Rickert, we remember a man who cherished his family, embraced life with joy, and lived with an unwavering kindness. He will be deeply missed but will continue to live on in the memories and stories shared by all who loved him.
