Clarence "Bubba" Host, 75, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on May 12, 2025.
Born on July 5, 1949, in Marion, Ohio, to Edward and Marietta Host, Bubba enlisted in the United States Air Force on 22 April 1969 and was honorably retired on 30 April 1995 after honorably serving over 26 years of distinguished service in the United States Air Force. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal w/2 OLC, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Distinguished-Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/Valor Device, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze OLC, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/1 Silver and 2 Bronze OLC, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Device, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Devices, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/1 Device, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon w/2 OLC, Air Force Long Tour Ribbon w/1 OLC, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/1 Silver OLC, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon w/1 Device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Device, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Throughout his military career, Clarence, his high school sweetheart, and his beloved wife, Gloria, traveled the world together, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Following his military retirement, Bubba pursued a second career with Chevrolet as a car salesman, where his friendly demeanor and straightforward approach earned him the trust of countless customers. Bubba will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his family, and his genuine kindness to all who knew him.
Bubba's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Mike and Jason, and a cherished grandfather to his four grandchildren, who will deeply miss his wisdom, humor, and unconditional love. Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marietta Host, and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his loving wife Gloria, his sons Mike and Jason, his four grandchildren, and his sister Carol.
A funeral service with Emerald Coast Funeral Home will be held in his honor on Friday, May 16th, 2025 at 12:00 PM. Friends are welcome to visit and pay respects one hour before the service starts, with a reception following the burial at Beal Memorial Cemetery, back at the funeral home reception center. The funeral procession is limited to nine family vehicles, so friends are encouraged to reconvene at the cemetery site if they can't make it in the procession line.
