Gregory "Buck" A. VanAuken, age 77 of Ross Township, Saylorsburg, PA passed away with his loving family by his side on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St Luke's Hospital Anderson Campus in Easton, PA.
Buck was born and raised in Morristown, NJ on December 24, 1947, son of the late Frederick VanAuken and Frances (Gelatka) VanAuken. He was the loving husband of Evelyn "Sky" S. (Hulcher) VanAuken. This year they would have celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on July 11th.
He owned and operated Crazy Dutchman Farm in Califon, NJ for many years. He also worked as a maintenance mechanic for Tuscan Creamery in Union, NJ, Reddington Farms in Flemington, NJ, and Durling Farms in Whitehouse, NJ.
From there he went in to become the maintenance director and wastewater treatment operator at Spruce Hills Condominiums in Glen Gardner, NJ until he retired to raise beef on his farm in Saylorsburg.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 346 in East Stroudsburg, PA.
We have been blessed with the presence of Buck in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Sky of Saylorsburg, PA, his children: Gregory VanAuken Jr., and spouse Christine of Washington, NJ, Joshua R, VanAuken and spouse Kristy of Belvidere, NJ, Charlotte S. VanAuken of Saylorsburg, PA, Kenya S. Kaszyk and spouse Kenneth of Glen Gardner, NJ and MaryEllen Robbins and spouse James of Hampton, NJ.
He was the loving grandfather to: Luke, Caitlin, Erinn, Daniel, Amanda & spouse Thor, Kenneth & spouse Heather and Ashley & spouse Bill, and great grandfather to: Gregory, Cassidy, Emma, Oden, Madison, Kenneth, Axel, Cole, William and River. He was excited and looking forward to his new granddaughter Olivia who will arrive any day now. Buck was preceded in death by a grandson: Gregory E. VanAuken.
Buck is also survived by two brothers: Mark VanAuken of Brandywine, WV and Brian VanAuken of Wilkes Barre, PA as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
He loved his family with all his heart and equally loved his cows and dogs. Buck will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Gower Funeral Home, Inc., 1426 Route 209, Gilbert, PA with American Legion Services at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 6 Church Street, Hampton, NJ.
Buck will be laid to rest at St. Ann's Church Cemetery in Hampton, NJ.
