Elmus William Fouty, known as Bud to those who knew him, was born January 30, 1944, in Jackson, Michigan to Ervin and Grace (Grow) Fouty and entered eternal rest on March 11, 2025, in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years, surrounded by his loving family.
Bud grew up in Clearwater, Florida where he attended school and started his career in autobody repairs. This is where he met the love of his life, Diane Rae Stagner, they united in marriage on January 20, 1968. Bud and Diane were blessed with one daughter, Tammy. Bud and Diane shared fifty-three years of memories before Diane's passing on February 4, 2021.
Bud was a hard worker and wonderful provider for his family, his career in autobody repair spanned over sixty years. He had a passion for auto work, building classic cars, and doing projects in his garage. Bud also spent many afternoons at Montauk State Park where he would trout fish and enjoy the peaceful elements of nature.
Bud loved his family more than anything, he cherished the time and memories that were made with them, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bud is survived by his loving daughter: Tammy Schmitt and husband Wendell of Salem, MO; sister: Judy Ponds of Florida; granddaughter: Nicole Stafford and husband Dustin of Salem, MO; great-grandchildren: Dustin Jr., Randall, Emmett, and Olivia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Diane Fouty; parents: Ervin and Grace Fouty; granddaughter: Emily Ragsdale; and sisters: Naomi, Beatrice, and Dorothy.
Bud will be remembered for the love he had for his family and his quiet laid-back demeanor. He will be forever missed by those who knew him most.
Funeral Services for Elmus "Bud" William Fouty were held Monday, March 17, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were "Scars In Heaven", "I Can Only Imagine", and "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Serving as Pallbearers were Wendell Schmitt, Bobby Carter, Emmett Stafford, Randall Stafford, Silas Stricklin, Darrell Sapaugh, and Joe Firestine. Burial was in the Boss Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
