Buddy Jeanne Metz

Buddy Jeanne Metz, 86, of Cavetown, Md., passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024. Her light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts as we find solace in the promise of her eternal rest in the embrace of her Savior.
Born May 3, 1937, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Mary Hartle Bushey and Frank E. Bushey, Jr. She was valedictorian of the Smithsburg High School Class of 1955 and graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1958.
As a Registered Nurse, Jeanne devoted nearly 50 years to caring for others. She began her career as a pediatric nurse in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., then worked at Washington County Hospital and in the office of Dr. J.D. Wilson in Hagerstown before retiring as the Director of Nursing at Coffman Nursing Home. Her dedication and leadership positively influenced countless patients, residents, and colleagues. Jeanne was a member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in Foxville, Md., and was active in the Mount Bethel Women's Fellowship for many years.
Above all else, Jeanne cherished her family, and she leaves a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jerry Philip Metz, Sr., son Jerry Philip Metz, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, of Edgewater, Md., daughter Stephanie Lynn Grace, and her husband, Jason, of Merced, Ca; and two adored grandsons, Hunter and Brady Metz. Also surviving Jeanne are ten beloved siblings: seven sisters, Linda Custer (Steven), Helen Reynolds (Richard), Matilda Kirby (Jack), Susan Witmer, Rebecca Bushey (Jerry Laatsch), Kathleen Garrott (John), and Teresa Kipe (Donald); three brothers, Frank E. Bushey III (Cathy), Richard Bushey (Joann), and Thomas Bushey (Joyce); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne's brother Charles Bushey and sisters Patricia Higman and Louise Scibilia preceded her in death.
Services will be on Tuesday, February 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD with Pastor Andrew Brown officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on February 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery, Foxville, Md.
