Buna Carter Torrence was borne to the late Willie James and Ada Bell Carter on January 20, 1933 in Warrenton, Georgia. She departed this life on September 8, 2017. Buna accepted God as her personal savior at an early age. She married the late Robert Torrence Jr. and relocated to Miami, Florida. Several years later she moved to Atlanta Georgia to be near her mother and siblings. She joined the Elizabeth Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James E. She attended the Warren County Public School System and later attended Atlanta Area Technical School and earned several culinary certificates. Throughout her years she has shared her love for cooking, baking, canning, catering and gardening with several people. Her work career included the Pine View Convalescent Center, Aunt Fannies Cabin, Atlanta Public Schools and the State of Georgia Department of Corrections. She was honored as Employee of the Year for the State of Georgia Department of Corrections. She is preceded in death by six siblings, James Arthur Shelton (Louise), Beatrice Shanks (Sam), Annie Ruth Norris (Jerry), Willie Edward Carter (Ruthie Mae), Joshua Carter (Annie Ruth) and Eugene Carter (Mae Vertis). She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Willie James Torrence (Brenda), Bobbie Jean Middlebrook and Ronald Jerome Torrence (Bernice), eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May the blessings of love be upon you,
May its peace abide with you,
May its essence illuminate your heart,
Now and forever more.. ... ..

Bobbie Jean, Tomeka, Tyrone, LaShung, Andre and Tonya, while we are mourning the transition of our friend, you are mourning the transition of your mother and grandmother. There are no words that I can say to erase the hurt or ease the pain that you are experiencing at this moment, please know that I am always here for each of you. Nothing and no one will ever take away your memories. It is my prayer those same memories provide you with comfort and a small ray of sunshine during this most difficult time. I'm sure Ms. Buna would tell us remember me with smiles and laughter, for this is how I will remember you.

May Jehovah Shalom, Prince of Peace, be with you, wrap you in his loving arms and provide each of you with comfort, peace and hope. May God's grace and mercy fill you with strength. Regardless of WHO, WHAT or WHY, stand firm on the promise that God will never leave or forsake you. Don't dwell on the things that you can't or don't understand, for God is not a God of confusion but of peace. He sits on high, he sees all and knows all. I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. And it is those loving memories will live on forever in our hearts... .. ... Ms. Buna will live on forever in your hearts.

Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted
