Burdette Jay Caster, 86, of Machesney Park, passed away on December 16, 2025. He was born on January 3, 1939, in Worthington, Minnesota, the son of Jay William and Ora Jane (Bruner) Caster. He married Marjorie Voss on October 25, 1958, in Ashton, Iowa and he preceded her in death on November 29, 2021. He worked as a crane operator for the railroad and in construction for Caterpillar. In his early years, he enjoyed boxing and riding motorcycles with his wife. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. He had a passion for the outdoors, especially boating on his pontoon and camping on his lots in Yogi Bear in Portage, Indiana. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and collected guitars. He was a strong, good hearted, loving but stubborn father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Jay) Brock; granddaughter, Jacqueline (Noah) Kosinski; and great grandchildren, Joseph, Theodore, Mason, Remington, Levi, Phoenix, and Clara. He is predeceased by his wife, Marjorie; parents, Jay and Ora; children, Bernice and Tommy; grandson, Jay Brock; sister, Glita Mae; and brothers, Delbert and Vern.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park, IL 61111, with a visitation prior to the service starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
