So very sorry to hear Burdette passed away. Although living nearly two hours apart, we had shared many long phone conversations over the past several months as well as his recent Christmas greetings. As a fourth cousin, he was full of information regarding our common ancestry. We first met back in 2008 and remained friends through genealogy. My dad truly enjoyed learning more about his family from Germany as well as seeing all the antiques in Wellsburg. If I could, I would add our family group photo taken together with Burdette. He will be missed, but I'll cherish our memories.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Burdette Walters. He was an incredibly patient and encouraging teacher who made a lasting impression on me. I still remember when I wrote about Anastasia Romanov - he took such genuine interest in my work that it made me feel truly special. His kindness, curiosity, and belief in his students made learning feel meaningful and personal.I also can´t help but smile remembering a funny classroom moment when everyone hid in the closet as a prank, and I was left sitting alone when he walked in. Instead of being upset, he was such a good sport about it, laughing along with the rest of us. That day captured who he was - patient, understanding, and always finding joy in teaching. I´ll always be grateful for his influence, his humor, and his caring spirit.

So sad to here that Berdette has passed. Haven't seen him for many years but never had any bad experiences with him. Actually, as a student of his back in the 70's, despite my rowdiness and poor behavior in class at times, he was always a class act and handled things patiently. Me, along with a few other of my classmates didn't make things easy for him as a teacher, but again Berdette always kept things professional. Berdette was always a likable guy, and fun to visit with years later after school. RIP Berdette!!!
