Burnett "Bernie" Sherck, 85, of Goshen died Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Esther's House in Elkhart.
He was born May 20, 1939, in Goshen to Arthur and Marjorie (Yoder) Sherck. They preceded him in death.
Bernie proudly served in the U.S. Air Force after high school. He was stationed in England, where he met his first wife, Helen Palmer. They were married August 12, 1961 in Cambridge, England. She survives along with their two children, Karie (Mike) Smoker of Shelbyville, Tennessee and Kevin Sherck of Goshen; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Bernie's second marriage was on August 23, 1989 to Cathy Chaffee in Juneau, Alaska. She survives along with her son, Chet (Kristen) Craft and two grandchildren.
On July 14, 2007 he married his third wife, Linda Robson, at Krider Gardens in Middlebury. She survives along with her daughters, Megan (Pete) Kolasinski, Erin (Milo) Jones and five grandchildren.
Bernie is also survived by his sister, Julie (Jerry) Yoder of Goshen; maternal aunt, Marilyn Lindley, three nieces and their children and grandchildren, and many Sherck and Yoder cousins.
Bernie loved and was loved by each and every one of his large extended family.
He was a man of many interests which led to a life of varied jobs from home decorating; being a skilled mold maker in the plastics industry; and finally upcycling antiques and vintage items with Linda.
His varied talents allowed him to build a home in the woods near Bonneyville Mill County Park in Bristol. It was like living in a tree house!
Bernie's interests also led to a life of adventure that he and Linda loved. His fondest memories were of hunting with friends and supporting Notre Dame football and basketball teams. He loved the challenge of all puzzles, but especially crosswords. He of course enjoyed all variety of family gatherings. He will be remembered for his lightening quick wit and humor; making Linda laugh on a daily basis.
Visitation is scheduled at West Goshen Church, 1200 Berkey Ave., Goshen on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday, May 2, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service. Pastor Mike Overpeck will officiate.
